You Must Be Stoking in the Function room on Wednesday 2nd October.
The nights may be getting shorter, but the laughs are getting bigger – You Must Be Stoking returns on 2nd October with a fantastic line-up, featuring:
Byron started his a career as a street entertainer at the age of 16, which was inspired after learning how to juggle in a summer school for the performing arts program. His well received comedy/escape/juggling show was a massive success from festivals and fairs to public streets squares in over a dozen countries. In 2002 he became a full time stand up comedian. His high energy, truthful and observational style mixed with natural talent for voices, accents, and impressions make him a favorite headliner in his home country of Canada, as well as in the US, UK and Australia. He has worked with the likes of Zach Galifianakis, Jamie Kennedy, Colin Mochrie and Flight of the Concords, been featured on XM Radio and received rave reviews from press, peers and punters alike.
“Had the crowd cheering and this reviewer wanting more” – Melbourne Herald Sun
“A very, very funny man” – Colin Mochrie, Whose Line is it Anyway
“Powerful confidence and hard-driven delivery” – Chortle
With able support from:
A stand up comic for more than 12 years, Nik has developed an international following, having performed many solo shows at the Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, New Zealand and Melbourne International Comedy Festivals, all over Australia and the inaugural Hollywood Fringe Festival in Los Angeles. His confident, affable and energetic style of comedy is quick to build audience rapport, as he talks about subjects as wide-ranging as observations on human nature, his experiences in The Antipodes, Europe and Asia, his extensive knowledge of wildlife, superheroes, current affairs and his mixed race up-bringing in London.
“Generates an irresistible atmosphere of good old-fashioned fun” – Chortle
“Fun and amazing” – Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Magician “EL Baldiniho” has toured regularly around Southern England performing theatre shows for children and family audiences. However, due to an unpaid debt with a bookmaker, he is currently augmenting his career with a parallel one – that of a stand-up comedian, performing magic and comedy for adults.
“Entertained a packed audience…a fun filled sold-out success” – Canterbury Festival
Compere Ben Van Der Velde:
Ben is currently resident MC for HaHaComedy Clubs in Peterborough and at the brand new St. James Theatre in London. He has also served residencies for Really Lovely Comedy and the Free Beer Show where he has compered for top acts such as Omid Djalili, Reginald D Hunter, Sarah Millican, Brendon Burns, Jim Jeffries and Andrew Maxwell. In 2011 he was named Comedy Cafe New Act of the Year and in 2012 hosted one of the Big Value Comedy Showcase shows at the Edinburgh Festival, as well as hosting the comedy tents at both Bestival and Festival Number 6.
